Hatake Tsukiya

畑月夜

they/she

Hatake Tsukiya (畑月夜) is the main character of the Chronicles of Tsukiya series. They are the daughter of Hatake Kakashi and a mother who has only ever been mentioned as of The Hidden Beast. They are a shinobi of great promise, having shown potential as a future genjutsu master as a genin. Tsukiya's main goal as a shinobi is to be the kindness the shinobi world needs.

*** Spoilers Ahead ***

Fire and Ice

Before Tsukiya was Tsukiya, they were a young genin by the name of Tsukiko and they struggled heavily with standing up for themself. They were first teammed up with a shinobi named Minamoto Ryouichi, who turned out to be their biggest bully once he saw how they truly were. To help aid them through this, Ibiki offers to teach them genjutsu as a way to stand up for themself.

Though Ryouichi is thrown off the team not soon after, Ibiki still teaches Tsukiya genjutsu as a way to build their self-confidence. After Ryouichi is kicked off the team, Team Ibiki needs an additional genin for future missions and they are temporarily assigned Morino Hiiragi, Ibiki's one and only son. During this mission, Tsukiya learns about non-binary and agender people (chuusei and musei) and realizes that their gender does not align with the sex they were assigned at birth, thus they become Tsukiya with a little help from Ibiki.

The Hidden Beast
It's a few months after the chūnin exams, and a few weeks after their teammate, Yamada Shion, was brutally killed during a mission turned trap by Otogakure shinobi. They find themself having to cope with the trauma of losing their friend and comrade.
They are sent on a mission to the Land of Auroras, where a blanket genjutsu has taken hold of the land by the hand of a previously unknown child of a tailed beast. The two tailed demon cat, Unmeiko was sealed to sleep by the Sage of Six Paths over a thousand years ago. She would only awaken when the individual worthy of her being sealed into them was old enough and experienced enough to take her on.
Unmeiko awakened and began calling on Tsukiya, as they are Tsukiya the individual slated to become Unmeiko's jinchuriki. It comes at a hefty price—her ability to fight for several months. Tsukiya makes the decision to let the beast seal herself into them, knowing there was no other ethical choice. Though, Tsukiya was definitely not prepared for the consequences..
After the initial infusion, Sakumo applies a temporary seal to keep Tsukiya from potentially dying because of the beast's power. Meanwhile, Hiiragi spends all his time by Tsukiya's side, nursing them back to health as best as he can. And finally, Tsukiya realizes their feelings for Hiiragi match his feelings for them.

Letting Go

Tsukiya and Hiiragi are forced into joining Danzō's side in Root. It's definitely not the most ideal situation, but Danzō will do anything, including placing Tsukiya's civilian grandmother under a genjutsu, to get Tsukiya to join. Root is probably going to be the most traumatic aspect of Tsukiya's shinobi career.

Castle of Glass

It's after the 4th Shinobi War, and Tsukiya's learning to deal with the grief after having lost Inoichi, their adopted father. Through the course of the story, they learn about their biological mother, and Setsuna is nothing how they expected her to be. Secrets are unraveled, from the truth Sakumo's been hiding for almost 18 years to the circumstances surrounding Tsukiya's birth. Meanwhile, Kakashi is chasing a bad guy who is trying to tarnish Sakumo's reputation and he runs into a surprising foe in the process...

Morino Hiiragi

森乃柊

he/him

Morino Hiiragi (森乃柊) is the love interest of Tsukiya in the Chronicles of Tsukiya series. He is the son of Morino Ibiki (canon character) and Miyazaki Yasumi (oc). He is a medic nin in training, taking after his mother in terms of medicine and after his father in psychology. Hiiragi's main goal as a shinobi is to help people and prevent them from dying the way his mother had.

*** Spoilers Ahead ***

Fire and Ice

Hiiragi was originally on a team with two other unnamed genin with a female jounin prior to the beginning of Fire and Ice. Unfortunately, his sensei passed away from illness due to injuries she sustained on a recent mission. When Ibiki sends Minamoto Ryouichi with his tail between his legs, Hiiragi is offered a spot on Ibiki's team as a temporary measure so he didn't miss out on taking missions he could easily take. Though, he was also offered a break due to the loss of his sensei, but Hiiragi's stubborn. He insisted.
On the mission, he finds himself falling for the young Hatake, Tsukiya. He can't help but think she's so cool. Although at this age he didn't understand he had a crush on Tsukiya, he did see himself being their best friend forever. And he certainly found their passion and care for their team to be one of their most endearing qualities.

The Hidden Beast
It's a few months after the chūnin exams, and a few weeks after their teammate, Yamada Shion, was brutally killed during a mission turned trap by Otogakure shinobi. Just like Tsukiya, he's quietly coping with the untimely death of their teammate.
He joins a mission with Ibiki, Tsukiya, and surprisingly enough, Sakumo, to the Kingdom of Auroras. Tsukiya starts having strange dreams insinuating they may become a jinchuriki, and although he didn't entirely believe it himself, he couldn't dismiss Tsukiya's fears very easily. Even harder was when he noticed Sakumo acting strangely—more nervous than normal, especially around Tsukiya.
He is the last to go down due to the blanket genjutsu, but he's the first to see Tsukiya after the initial sealing of Unmeiko. He spends his time nursing them back to health afterward, making sure they don't die from the initial seal and the temporary one Sakumo has to place on Tsukiya. And this is the first true time Hiiragi admits his feelings for Tsukiya.

Letting Go

Hiiragi is forced into joining Root with Tsukiya, against their wills. Their first major mission is quite a doozy, and for Hiiragi he starts to learn things about himself he didn't think he really wanted to know...

Castle of Glass

It's been a few months since the 4th Shinobi War. Just like Tsukiya, he's grieving what they've lost. But now? His eyes are set on the future—one with Tsukiya. He finally proposes to them and moves in with them, Sakumo, and Murasaki. Everything appears to be going well! Until Tsukiya starts seeing ghosts, spirits of those they've lost over the years, including that of Danzō. Hiiragi doesn't entirely think much of it, but he remains by Tsukiya's side, knowing they desperately need it.
When Kakashi leaves the village to take on a mission as Hokage, Hiiragi steps in as Tsukiya's aid. And he stays right by her side as more and more secrets are unveiled.
When Sakumo's body is taken over by Danzō's ghost, including Danzō's responsibility in orchestrating Tsukiya's birth with their mother.
